The Academic Standards Commission is in its final hours and is working feverishly to reconcile various ideas in mathematics.
Earlier today, the Commission approved a Common Core-based standards document to send to the State Board of Education. That's big news.
A more thorough write up and evaluation of the work will follow in the next day or so as the complete action and standards from the commission are finalized and put together.

Scott Hill is Vice-President of Education Policy at School Innovations & Advocacy where his work includes directing the state’s efforts under the California Diploma Project.
He has held a number of leadership positions in California government, including service as Undersecretary of Education and Chief Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction. He also served as Executive Director of the California Academic Standards Commission in the late 1990s, directing the development of the state’s first content standards.
He also worked with the George Lucas Educational Foundation and the California School Boards Association.
He is co-Founder of the Dixon Montessori Charter School, a high-performing school authorized by the California State Board of Education.
